the kids say funny things all the time. but I rarely write them down. here are two from Ella.

“mom, how do you spell m&m’s?”. which made me genuinely laugh hard.

this morning she told me she was having trouble doing something because she was too “laughity”. love that.

I always revert to drinking iced tea whenever I come back home to Virginia. This giant cup was delicious and refreshing.

The kids and I took a little road trip to Shenandoah National Park. Here is a little panorama (courtesy of iPhone) from one of the overlooks. We also stopped for a (very) little bit of hiking at the Riprap trail, part of the AT.

Two of Ella’s favorite things in the whole world.

He is so cool.

Running on empty April 10, 2009

This makes me nervous. Even though there is a gas station every half mile. I can see me walking down the side of the road with poor Joey in tow, going to get some gas. Or maybe I would play it safe (read: lazy) and call my husband to bail me out.

Joey’s favorite pose when sleeping in his car seat. The little guy just gets tuckered out. I guess it’s because he is just wide open when he’s awake.

Ella has been picking flowers for me since she was just a toddler. When we go on walks she is always on the lookout for these little clumps of blooms, some might call them weeds. Joey has picked this up from Ella. I love to see him running to to me with a clump clutched in his fist, dirt dropping from the roots.
Ella brought this bouquet to me, vase and all, from school yesterday. Nothing could make me happier. Such a sincere and heartfelt symbol of her love.

Ella recently went on her first outing as a girl scout brownie. She was so proud of her uniform. I was so proud of her.
